The name Bumblebee can refer to several different characters:

• Bumblebee, the yellow kid-appeal character from the Generation One continuity family. For toys of this character, see Bumblebee (G1)/toys.

• Bumblebee, the yellow one-man franchise kid-appeal character from the motion picture. For toys of this character, see Bumblebee (Movie)/toys.

• Bumblebee, the yellow kid-appeal character from Transformers Animated.

• Bumblebee, later known as Goldbug, the evil Autobot spy/Seeker commander from Shattered Glass. Partially yellow, definitely NOT kid-appeal.

• Bumblebee, the young Autobot recruit from War for Cybertron and Prime.

"Bumblebee" is also the translation for Waspinator's French name in Canada: Bourdon.

Bumblebee should not be confused with:

• Bumper, the yellow nobody who is not Bumblebee and is definitely not...

• Cliffjumper, a separate character who is frequently made from Bumblebee redecos. He is usually not yellow.

• Hubcap, a yellow retool of Cliffjumper.

• Bug Bite, Glyph, Tap-Out, Carerra and Volks, those who are the redecos/retools of Generation One Bumblebee or Cliffjumper. Neither are yellow, kid-appeal may vary.

• Cheetor, the yellow kid-appeal character from Beast Wars.

• Hot Shot, the yellow kid-appeal character from the Unicron Trilogy, who Transformers Animated Bumblebee is based on.

• Ironhide, despite what Megatron thinks. He's not even yellow!

• Captain Fanzone's car, which looks a heck of a lot like Transformers Animated Bumblebee. It is yellow.

• Wasp, the green character with Bumblebee's stingers and alt modes. Not very kid appeal.

• Tap-Out, the other green Bumblebee like character.

• Glyph, the other, other, green Bumblebee like character seen in crowds along with other un-named Animated Bumblebee redecos.

• BB, whose name probably doesn't stand for the abbreviation of "Bumblebee". He is not yellow, either.

• Sparkplug, the Mini-Con who was the partner of Optimus Prime.
