[edit] Shattered Glass or Timelines

Um, I find that characters' page names aren't unified. Some pages are named *** (Shattered Glass), while others are named *** (Timelines). Personally, I prefer the former one. --TX55TALK 12:54, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

The decision seems to be "If there's already a Timelines character (such as Ricochet (Descent into Evil) or Megatron (BW), they get the '(Shattered Glass)' tag." I agree that having them all named after Shattered Glass is more useful logistically. -LV 14:03, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
I think they absolutely should all have "Shattered Glass." It clearly communicates what the article is about to people browsing through categories. "Timelines" covers multiple universes, but if you see (Shattered Glass) then you know you're dealing with a mirror-universe guy. --KilMichaelMcC 22:06, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I fourth the notion that they should all be "Shattered Glass." - Chris McFeely 22:09, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Me too. -- Repowers 22:26, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I disagree. We only should use the year's theme name if two guys first introduced in Timelines have the same name. It's the same reason the guy that comes with G2 Dreadwing is a Smokescreen (G2) even though G1 Somkescreen was in the G2 Comics. The initial title disambuig is always the franchise the guy (or whatever) came from. For the FunPub Botcon guys, this would be Timelines. We don't need the mirror universe at Megatron (Shattered Glass) because so far, the only other Megatrons that are Timelines characters are Megatron (G1) and Megatron (BW), so until we get a 2nd Megatron who first appears in part of the Timelines franchise Megatron (Timelines) works just fine. --FortMax 22:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, there is always something exceptional. Using Shattered Glass is much suitable. Besides, not every user/reader at this database does know "Shattered Glass belongs to Timelines", so using "Timelines" may cause confusion sometimes. --TX55TALK 01:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
There comes a point where inflexible adherence to an old system becomes confusing and some exception is needed. This is one of those times. I think they all should be under "Shattered Glass". --M Sipher 17:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
(Shattered Glass) +1 --ItsWalky 17:51, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Admittedly I'm not too familiar with Timelines in general, but... wouldn't the fact that the Shattered Glass folks are "alt universe" characters be reason enough to give them their own specific parenthetical, regardless of anything else? (Since I'd think that any "true" Timelines characters would be "main universe" ones, wouldn't they? Feel free to tell me if I'm being clueless...) Jeysie 18:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I was the one who maintained the "(Timelines)" thing. Now I really don't care that much about it. Do whatever. —Interrobang 20:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I find your adherence to our naming standards (which were themselves debated and agreed-upon with an exhaustive debate of their internal logic back in the day) must laudable- but any debate we have is fundamentally an extension of "Well, based on what's come before, what system would best accommodate that and still not break when weird combinations come up?"
When we had this debate, no one anticipated "A single story introducing dozens of characters with the same names as their G1 counterparts- but who are nonetheless distinct enough from them to demand their own articles... which was published as part of an umbrella line representing multiple mutually exclusive continuities- for which there will be PARTIAL overlapping and bumping to another disambig tag." That's weirder than any combination we had available for consideration when forming our policy.  :(
(Vote for SG- nto that it matters, I think the consensus was already formed.) -Derik 21:57, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
