This article is about the live-action movie series Autobot. For the Armada Mini-Con, see Dune Runner (Armada).

Dune Runner is an Autobot from the Revenge of the Fallen franchise in the live-action film continuity family.

Back on Cybertron, most rolling surfaces are flat, lightly, textured roads — perfect for speed and traction. It wasn't changed until he got to Earth that Dune Runner experienced anything like sand or shale. He can't say he enjoys his vehicle mode, but he appreciates that it lets him patrol the deserts and mountains, where many Decepticons have taken to hiding.

When Soundwave attacks a power plant, Dune Runner, Bumblebee, Jolt and Knock Out were sent in. Breakaway was at the power plant, keeping an eye on things. Soundwave appears in his jet mode. Breakaway attacks Soundwave but gets shot down by Soundwave, killing the Autobot. Dune Runner and the others open fire on Soundwave as he retreats. Nefarious issue 1

Later, Dune Runner was on the cargo plane carrying the now captured Soundwave. He managed to escape the wreckage of the plane after it was shot down by Buzzsaw. The Autobots then transported Soundwave by road. Dirt Boss and Soundwave's minions block their route and attack. Dune Runner fires Ratbat before being shot and blown up by Dirt Boss. He does survive though, thanks to Bumblebee.

Later in Inyokern, California, Bumblebee, Knock Out, Dune Runner, Jolt and the others meet up with Optimus Prime, Ironhide and Sideswipe. They now have Soundwave secured, and under interrogation.

He later takes part in the assault on the secret base in crater lake, Oregon and survives the battle. Nefarious issue 2

Rising Storm[]

Dune Runner, Jolt and Knock Out were the only Autobots left behind on Diego Garcia when the others rolled out to save Sam Witwicky from Starscream's Decepticons. Their mission was to guard the confused and docile Autobot refugees who had been liberated from the Initiative's control. Rising Storm #2A short while later, the professional Autobot killer Shockwave attacked Diego Garcia, making short work of Knock Out and Jolt. Dune Runner stood his ground as long as he could, defending the refugees and pleading to Shockwave not to hurt them, but all he got out of it was a crushed head. Rising Storm #3

Toys[]

  • Dune Runner (Scout, 2009)
    • Japanese ID number: RA-16
Revenge of the Fallen Dune Runner is a Scout Class toy with a vehicle mode based on the Sector Seven dune buggies seen in the first film, the same vehicle also used as the basis for the Landmine. However, Landmine was a Deluxe class figure and transformed very differently to Dune Runner.
Interestingly, his aqua plastic is gunmetal for the pictures featured on his box.
Dune Runner's stock photographs have his feet mistransformed. The headlights should be higher on his ankles, and two blue 'heels' should be unfolded.
This mold was also used to make Revenge of the Fallen Beachcomber, and Transformers Crankstart.
