'Bold textjust watching random eps and something just hit me. Are the Dinobots "alive"?' In season 2 they needed Vector Sigma to bring new Transformers to life. The Dinobot were just Activated. --Omnidragon666 18:02, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- It seems the Dinobots from The Transformers cartoon continuity are simply just, that is, no sparks. --TX55TALK 10:52, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- The G1 cartoon is all over the place when it comes to continuity. Firstly, no character in G1 has a spark, so that's that ruled out. Second, only ten characters in the whole run (from More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1 right up to Enter the New Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas!) used Vector Sigma to be given personalities, those characters being the Aerialbots and Stunticons. The Dinobots, along with (in some versions) the Constructicons and the Technobots were all created and given life without Vector Sigma, which is verifiable, while Trypticon is also a possibilty for Vector Sigma-less creation - his creation is mentioned by the Secret Files as occuring after series two, and it would strike me that Alpha Trion, having merged with Vector Sigma, would refuse to give life to a Decepticon war machine like that. Basically, whoever was writing at the time just did what they wanted, and in the first two series, no episodes can really be considered canon with each other that closely.
