You do realize that if an image was uploaded via botleg, we have to delete it, right? -- SFH 20:48, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

I believed as much, though whether that is bootleg I'm not saying. However, there are countless other images on this site that, far as I know, could only be from a bootleg version of the movie.
Okay, time to clarify again. I don't know how people here didn't notice the crapload of tv spots that were released since May 17, but every single screencap I've uploaded are from officially-released medium to high resolution trailers or tv spots, but shrunk down (starting with a high-res pic and shrinking it down well will maintain a good image quality). However, there are some from those short, edited clips that Paramount officially released to sites such as IESB.com and Superherohype, like the scene where Scorponok attacks the soldiers and the town, those are the low res pics I have, and for most of my pics, I cite my sources. --FFN 21:39, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Just because someone else does it doesn't make it right. -Derik 21:42, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
I see. Sorry then; I didn't mean to cause problems. Just a mis-understanding.
No worries. Just remember that the images on this wiki are still here because we depend on the good humour of Hasbro, TakaraTomy, Dreamworks, Paramount and whomever else holds the copyright to them, and it would help if we only upload things that are legal. --FFN 22:34, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
I'll wait until the video comes out on DVD and purchase it before I use images then. That alright?
Yeah, or from any officially-released videos or pictures (official screencaps, production photos) you find. Unfortunately, random guys like Dispensor, Xbox 360 robot, steering wheel robot were, to my knowledge, never seen in promotional images/videos before or after the movie was released. --FFN 23:05, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
That's unfortunate; since he has such a great design. Anyway, thanks for clarifying. I usually don't have problems with wikis; but Transformers not being released on DVD yet I guess I just had a lapse, so sorry again for the mistake.

Well, you have mixed examples to go by. -Derik 01:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

OK. Now, could I use that image in the Dewbot article for Dispensor's thumb? It's already up, which I did not realize, and seems to be legal because it's low resolution.
Shh, stop pointing that out.  ;)
Resolution is not the issue, it's the fact that there is no 'legally released' source that picture could possibly come from, and we don't want to support bootlegging.
So if you said "I was an asshole and used flash photography during a theater screening to make this picture" then it wouldn't be supporting bootleggery, so we'd probably be (grudgingly) alright with it.
Also, if your image was larger, it's because it was up-sampled. All the TF2007 bootlegs come from the same low-res source. -Derik 02:43, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Derik, I recommend we delete that photo of yours because it still is legally dodgy. --FFN 19:52, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Alright, sorry about that; though my image comes from a Hi Res bootleg (I hope I'm not banned for saying that; illegality is illegality but I'm not doing it for bad reasons). I'll just forget about the images for a while. -Kyouraku-taichou 20:30, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
